March 2008 Interview: Bomani Armah

Introduction

Bomani “D’mite” Armah is the poet and emcee, who created 2007s most controversial Hip-Hop single, “Read a Book”. After the song aired on 106 and Park everybody from CNN’s Tony Harris, to Reverand Jesse Jackson attacked Armah for his satirical and political message. It took us a minute to catch up with him, but finally one of our contributors Weusi Baraka landed an interview with Bomani at his studio in DC. Blackademics, Welcome Bomani Armah.

    Great interview! As a DC native, I’ve been on D’Mite since way back at Karibu. :) What an insightful, creative and spiritual young man. Nice to see him leaving his mark by doing something he loves. Even nicer to see him on Blackademics. Looking forward to Part II!
