Malcolm X at 82

What happened to the Malcolm X’s of the world? So many of our courageous freedom fighters have been assassinated, exiled or imprisoned. To quote Nas, “Why did Malcolm’s plan die with the man? Why don’t we pick up where he left off and carry out his plan?” Why aren’t the Jesse Jackson’s and Al Sharpton’s carrying the torch that brother Malcolm dropped off? Let us marinate on these questions, while we take time to honor our fallen hero. Here are a few quotes to help us remember Brother Malcolm X-may he rest in peace:

“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”

“If you’re not ready to die for it, put the word ‘freedom’ out of your vocabulary.”

“It is a time for martyrs now, and if I am to be one, it will be for the cause of brotherhood. That’s the only thing that can save this country.”
