Support Brown Babies
A friend of mine has started a non-profit organization called, Brown Babies. This is a fledgling North Carolina-based organization that is dedicated to uplifting children of color (hence the name). Here is a quote from their “theory of unity,”
Brown Babies seeks to advocate for EVERY child of color and believes that by working TOGETHER, we will strengthen our community and provide a brighter future for our children. In an increasingly global environment, it is important to teach our children to be aware and proud of their own cultural heritage, while respecting and educating themselves about other cultures as well. The group’s founder is a recent graduate of Carolina Law School, and is already putting her scholarship into action. I wanted to let the rest of us know about Brown Babies, not only so we can support it, but also so we can be inspired by her example. It only takes passion and vision to initiate change and at 24 years old, she shows us that we don’t have to wait until we’ve “made it” to start putting in work and pursuing our goals.
